Bellfield Brewery: Bohemian Pilsner

By   March 11, 2018

It’s been a while since a review a beer. It’s just they getting harder to find. Luckily Morrisons supermarkets (which is showing to be among the best for GF stuff) has this new beer for sale.
I opened it tonight to drink with a nice chicken korma I just prepared. It’s a tasty beer and quite refreshing. It’s light with some lemon hints. It doesn’t have a lot of body and it’s quite carbonated. I liked it but at the same time it was the wrong choice for a curry.
It has won the silver World Beer Awards and if you’d like to try it wander to you local Morrisons or try Amazon.

Perhaps I was expecting too much from Mongozo Premium Pilsener, which is a product of the Huyghe Brewery in Belgium. The fact that it’s organic as well as gluten free was a very good selling point for me. However I found little taste in this one.

Granted that I don’t drink that many Pilseners nowadays but I would have preferred a bit more body and flavour. If you’d like to try it it’s not difficult to find it online for a decent price and it’s sold in Leeds at the Little Leeds Beer House. You can also drink it at the Leeds Belgrave for a not very cheap £5.

Update: as this beer is available on several pubs I ended up having quite often and I’m changing my mind about it. Perhaps it’s because the weather is warming up and it makes me more amicable to Pilsener but now I quite enjoy it.
